Why This Blog Exists

When I first got serious about pursuing orthopedics, I found myself constantly asking questions like:

  • How do I get orthopedic research as a first-year?
  • What should I be doing now to stay competitive?
  • Where can I even find shadowing opportunities?
  • Am I doing enough to set myself up for third and fourth-year?

The truth is, most advice can be hard to find and sort through as there are a lot of different people saying different things and trying to sell their "course". This blog is here to provide a simple and easy to understand guide of what I am doing to get into an orthopedic residency.

It is written by a student for students!

What You'll Find Here

This space is designed to give you guidance on:

  • Finding ortho-related research (even remotely)
  • Finding shadowing opportunities and making the most of it
  • Building a CV for residencies (which can be tricky!)
  • Conferences, study resources, and mentorship tips
  • How to keep a balanced and healthy life during medical school

You will learn about how to make the most of your early years in medical school; making focused and intentional decisions.

Who I am

My name is Liam Wright, and I’m an upcoming OMS-II at DUQCOM with a deep-rooted passion for orthopedics, a passion that began with athletics, injuries, and a fascination with anatomy which evolved into a drive and commitment to get into an orthopedic residency.
